ISSE at the first Lower Saxony – Scotland Joint Forum.

In order to strengthen the collaboration between Lower Saxony and Scotland, the Research group “Sustainable Ecosystems Engineering” organized a workshop “Towards an Ideal Circular Economy” at the forum.

The Institute of Software and Systems Engineering (ISSE) has many existing research projects and collaborations with partners and researchers around the world.

In order to strengthen the collaboration between Lower Saxony and Scotland, the Research group “Sustainable Ecosystems Engineering” organized a workshop “Towards an Ideal Circular Economy” at the forum.

The Joint Forum is a two-day event organized by Leuphana University Lüneburg together with the European Centre for Advanced Studies (ECAS) and the University of Glasgow. It is supported and financed by the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony (MWK).

Digital technologies and connected objects have the potential to reduce resource use and facilitate circular systems and circular business models. The goal of this workshop was to discuss not only the barriers hindering the shift towards a circular economy but also drivers and enablers in order to overcome these barriers. More specifically how digital transformation can be shaped to ensure that it supports transitions towards more sustainable societies?

The workshop was organised by:

  • Priyanka Sharma, ISSE-Clausthal University of Technology, Germany

along with

  • Benjamin Leiding, ISSE-Clausthal University of Technology, Germany
  • Sebastian Lawrenz, ISSE-Clausthal University of Technology, Germany
  • Martin Danner, AWS-Institut für digitale Produkte und Prozesse gGmbH, Germany

who also presented their work at the workshop.

By participating in such events in the future too the Institute for Software and Systems Engineering hopes to strengthen further partnerships and research collaborations around the world. Further information about the forum can be found at https://joint-forum.org/
