Dr. Christian Bartelt appointed university professor
Dr. Christian Bartelt has been appointed University Professor for "Methods and Applications of Machine Learning" at Clausthal University of Technology. He has represented the subject at the Institute for Software and Systems Engineering (ISSE) since February 1.
"I am delighted that Mr. Bartelt has returned to Clausthal University of Technology and is strengthening our computer science department. This means he can hit the ground running," said TU President Dr. Sylvia Schattauer on his appointment.
Christian Bartelt studied computer science at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern and subsequently conducted research there as a research assistant in the Software Architecture working group. He first came to Clausthal University of Technology in 2007, obtained his doctorate here in 2011 and continued his research as a postdoc at the ISSE. In addition to Clausthal University of Technology, the computer scientist taught as a lecturer at the University of Hildesheim during this time. In 2015, he left the region to head his own new research group "AI Systems Engineering" at the University of Mannheim. From 2018, he took over the management of his Institute for Enterprise Systems (InES) there. During this time, he also taught as an "Invited Professor" at Babes-Boylai University in Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania, as part of an Erasmus cooperation he founded. Bartelt is the founder and coach of several successful software start-ups with a focus on artificial intelligence.
In his research, Christian Bartelt works on data-centered methods and architectures for artificial intelligence (AI) in software-intensive systems. His research focuses on machine learning. He is particularly interested in generative AI, autonomous systems, security and trustworthiness of AI systems as well as AI-supported engineering methods.
The university warmly welcomes Prof. Dr. Bartelt.
