Smart Hybrid

In the SmartHybrid innovation network, six Lower Saxony research institutions from different scientific disciplines are researching new digital services and innovative business models for the future of Lower Saxony's companies. Digital technologies such as the Internet of Things, cyber-physical systems, virtual & augmented reality or 3D printing, whose integration into your business processes makes it possible to develop new digital services for many types of products, are of central importance for research. With this bundling of services in the sense of "hybrid value creation" (also known as product-service systems), the innovation network focuses on a topic that is increasingly being discussed in the context of digitalization and is considered by many experts to be of greater economic importance for SMEs than "Industry 4.0".

The interface between traditional application domains and innovative hybrid software-based solutions in particular offers enormous, but often untapped, innovation potential. With the development of integrated innovation and development approaches, improved utilization of this innovation potential can already be anchored in the development processes. By means of a general framework and application domain-specific characteristics of these development processes, SMEs and craft enterprises are enabled to integrate them into their corporate culture. This takes place during the project period in the form of accompanied pilot projects. The companies thus benefit from the latest innovation-promoting methods as well as from know-how from software engineering and other application domains.
