Mahin Kaka hat ihre Masterarbeit an der TU Clausthal erfolgreich abgeschlossen. Das Thema seiner Arbeit lautet: “Development of a Neural Network System to Predict Second-Hand Price of Smartphones“.
Increasing waste of electronic and electrical devices is currently an impressive challenge for both environmentally friendly people and the manufacturers of these electronic devices. According to WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directive, producers of these electronic devices must look after the created waste of their products even after selling them to customers. The people who taking care of environment is a concern for them, are in struggle to try various ways to at least reduce these wastes that endanger environment. In this master thesis it is tried to help reduce waste of smartphones using Neural Network algorithms to predict the price of secondhand smartphones, to help people sell their used smartphones to other people and let these devices to be used more and stay more in use cycle to increase the period of turning the product into waste. The price of these electronic equipment is an appropriate factor to be predicted as it is a clear sign of how much an e-device have worth and help users to decide better over their old devices. U sing this method, people will be aware of the real price of used smartphones and tend to buy or sell these devices or even use them more or if the predicted price is very low try to recycle or recover them. The experiments accomplished in this master thesis are based on neural network algorithms including Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) to analyze and learn from textual and image data of smartphones collected from Ebay.de. The textual and image data are processed both separately and mixed to see the performance and accuracy.
