LogiSmile Project Video

Over the past two and a half years, the Institute of Software and Systems Engineering (ISSE) at Clausthal University of Technology has been working with two other institutes of the Automotive Research Center Niedersachsen (NFF) and twelve other academic and industrial partners from across Europe on an innovative and sustainable solution to the problem of last mile delivery.

This solution consists of a logistics vehicle and a delivery robot that work together to bring parcels to the end customer.

On March 22, the project results were successfully demonstrated at the NFF in Braunschweig in front of numerous guests and media representatives. The innovation of the project lies in the cooperation between the two robots, which are coordinated via a backend system.

The ISSE has provided a control center that monitors the driving status of the logistics vehicle and enables a remote safety driver to intervene if necessary. In addition, the control center has been expanded to include a fleet management system that controls communication between the logistics vehicle and the backend, which is responsible for mission planning.
