Update on our journey towards an AI-autonomous shuttle
After receiving our vehicle platform, the next major step is now done:
the sensor head has been mounted on the roof and connected.
And there is more:
the HPC system is now installed in the back of the vehicle — including the NVIDIA AI computing power we need for perception, learning, decision-making, and safety mechanisms.
That means: the hardware foundation is now in place. Sensors on the roof.
AI computing power in the back. Access to the vehicle functions. And a highly motivated team around it.
Now the real fun begins: integrating the AI, connecting the software stack, bringing the first functions to life — and gradually moving from a prepared vehicle platform towards an autonomous research shuttle.
Our next milestone is intentionally small, but very important:
In two weeks, we want to be able to make it blink. 😉
Because autonomous driving is not one big magical step.
It is a sequence of many carefully engineered steps: sensing, computing, understanding, deciding, acting — and always ensuring safety.
I am really proud of the team and very excited about the next phase.
And one more thing: we are still looking for a name for our research vehicle.
So: any ideas?
Creative, technical, funny, bold — suggestions are very welcome. 😊
More updates soon.
